Vegetarian haggis, tatties and neeps for our Burns Night Supper, with braised red cabbage and apple.

Proper Scottish shortbread, perfect with a nice cup of tea.

Sean bought me this Hello Kitty iPad cover for Christmas; she is sporting a kilt and tartan bow!

Scotties on a Christmas shortbread tin

And Hamish, a gift from Anthony, doing a very good job of keeping the airing cupboard open whilst I was putting the laundry away.

I found out today that in Imperial Russia Robert Burns was translated into Russian and became a source of inspiration for the ordinary Russian people, and in Soviet Russia, he was considered to be the archetypal poet of the people, so far away from his homeland. So, Happy Birthday, Rabbie, voted the Greatest Ever Scot; ahead of William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, and David Tennant!

30 Days of Creativity: Part 5

This creative task was a  couple of gifts for Blaithnead's birthday this week. Her favourite colour is purple, so that was the theme.

A little rosette for her jacket.

Lavender soap, from a melt-and-pour base, lavender essential oil and lavender flowers.

Green finds

I found these sweet little mint tea glasses yesterday; 50p for the two has to be the best bargain! I foresee them as bergamot and rosemary scented candles.

And these green bracelets and bangles were in a bundle of others, which will be shown at a later date with in a differently coloured theme.

More lucky finds

Back at school a week now, so I am a bit behind on the blogging front, both active and passive, but time to catch up this evening. I took my Urban Scholars to a Study Day at Brunel University on Saturday and whilst they were hard at work on a Forensic Science Murder Mystery Challenge I snuck into Uxbridge to have a look at what treats the charity shops had to offer. I wasn't disappointed!

This rather lovely sugar bowl with gilding will complement some other gold trimmed cups, saucers and plates I already have. Bargain at £1.50!

And this great old-school satchel! I have been looking for one for ages without the £50+ price tag! £9.99!

Thankyou, Oxfam!

30 Days of Creativity: Part 2

Another owl, for me this time. The kit came from BHS, a little pre-Christmas treat when I was buying some gifts. Just my colours, and he looks great on this jacket!

30 Days of Creativity: Part 1

Shazronnie over at shazronnie.wordpress.com inspired me to have a go at this as my next challenge: (30 days of creativity is spending 30 minutes doing something creative for 30 days, the days do not have to be consecutive.January 1st seems a good day to start.
A little while ago, I promised Debbie an owl. They seem to be all the rage, along with foxes. It was meant to be for a Christmas gift, but I didn't get round to it. It did actually take longer than 30 mins, as the stitches were so tiny, but no matter. So here he is, a little felt brooch. Hope she likes him!
